The seal

He kept a seal on me
One that should never be broken
In an endless search for the one who
Bestowed it
Many tried to break it but failed
Anguish plagued my heart because the burden was
Mine alone to bear

He told me not to yield
and I listened
To His voice
But with each capture,
my resolve weakened
My seal must not be broken
My soul yearns a seperation from this load

I do not care for the freedom which it brings
Except by the one who guides it
The seal is not to be broken
He reminds me,
Wait for me he says
Alas! My soul wrestles
Restless from all the bondage it feels

I am too stubborn to learn
Too obstinate to be still
Too conceited to reason
Too defiant to understand
Too guarded to seek protection
Why do I keep this seal locked?
I ask myself

He is yet to come,
I am waiting
Waiting for as long as it takes
For the One who kept the seal on me
To give the key to the one
to whom it belongs

  1. I guess you’re referring to virginity. There are some of us who want ‘to give the key to whom it belongs’ but have we stopped to ask ourselves why we are really keeping it?
Besides the fact that it’s a sin. Are there more reasons why we should keep waiting?
