Rhythms of Aesthetics

Another one of my Facebook posts that I wrote a while back in 2011.

As a student of advertising, I learnt the intricacies of being able to dabble with words, play with colours, turn jingles into undertones for daydreams, and be hypnotised by the aesthetics that surround the merging of images, and literary expressions to create beauty beyond your wildest imaginations.

I have come to appreciate beauty in any form either a brush in the hands of a make-up artiste, a pen in the hand of writer, a chisel in the hands of a carpenter, a pastel in the hands of an artist, a comb in the hands of a stylist, a lyrics written by a musician, to mention a few. Appreciating beauty in any and every form made me see the light; I could relate, and I understood perfectly what it entails. I always felt entranced anytime a transformation took place on the object being ‘tushed-up’. That is how I came to understand what beauty meant and what advertising had in relation to beauty. It was like they were knitted from the same soul, carved from the same wood.

It was amazing my increasing knowledge of what advertising meant to man. That is why, in every way, I try to identify with what advertising means. Every day, I woke up and all I saw was an image speaking to me from the billboard or from a poster, or a flyer etc. Advertising is all around us, it’s like the air we breathe, and I love it… cos I can feel it, and sense it in every possible way. It is like being caressed by your lover. Gosh, It is so wonderful, and my heart pumps and the steady rhythms increase to fast thudding exhilarating beats.

I love to express myself and play with words in a way that can hardly be imagined. I see life all around images; I interpret fiction into non-fiction in a way that would ‘waoh’ the audience. I am a good asset, and a major investment with words, thought and action. That is what advertising turned me too, a maniac for beauty… I love to learn things and I like making things and people beautiful.

I have been able to translate my love for beauty into little works of art.

I can say with all conviction that I can make a snake to be friends with a toad, a lion with a gazelle, I can even make a snail to crawl on salt because my love, knowledge and understanding of what advertising is makes these all possible… I always feel like I’m floating…
