I want a relationship

Apparently relationships these days are all about getting laid.
I got a spam mail today sent by a female and the subject read “I wanna get into a serious relationship” – curious to know her  definition of serious, I opened it. I was appalled by the content. She wanted to get laid – that’s all.

What is happening with the world, majority of people have miscontrued the real purpose of a relationship before marriage – and the surprising thing is most happen to be ladies who think that to keep a man requires your spreading your legs for him. The funny thing is that guarantees nothing.
I am a firm believer of keeping yourself till marriage irrespective of what has happened in the past, a sexless relationship before marriage can exist between two mature adults.
What happened to asking the pertinent questions?
The issue of God, finance, in-law interference, genotype, rhesus factor maybe late conception. It may look all rosy in dating but issues exist that threaten to shake the foundation of any relationship (marriage), including those of the most staunch believers.

I believe real intimacy doesn’t come from sex or cuddling, that may be inclusive but the ability to understand your significant other per time in their expressions, emotional needs and even their silences. Friendship breeds intimacy – learning to talk about any and everything under the sun.
I’ve watched marriages collapse because of lack of understanding. A man going out of his way to get his wife a gift and she innocently makes fun of him – may end that routine because he sees that as not being appreciated.

I’m not an authority on this subject because I’m not married but I can say I have under – studied some circumstances existing in marrriage. I think relationships before marriage should exist on the platform of research (what makes s/he tick?) and understanding of oneself as opposed to the feeling your partner elicits from you. Also, adding value to your lives (most important)- I hope to get married one day and be the kind of woman my husband will be excited to come home to.

P.S: Marriage is a school, all the lessons can never be learnt while dating and sex isn’t the most important ingredient either. For the singles, like Paul would say if the fire dey burn you for yansh, sharp sharp do and marry.

  1. I love the last sentence. LOL
I am happy you linked friendship to intimacy. Sex is all the rave now, the way you make me feel and all that. Heady yes, but like pepper, physical intimacy is used to spice up the food of relationship, not to be a standalone food in itself. And yes, waiting till marriage is the best. Thank you again 🙂
