One day at a time

One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking from you. Lord help me today, show me the way what I have to do; yesterday’s gone sweet Jesus and tomorrow may never be mine. Teach me today, show me the way, one day at a time.

This song with its profound meaning makes a lot of difference, I think of how fallible we are as humans. Pretending to have a strength we do not possess on our own. Hearts hardened by circumstances and laughing at people who are going through similar things as if our problems do not exist.

Why is it easy to forgive someone you don’t see, only to see the person and the bile rises up. Emotions in absentia are rarely emotions – they do not project what you really feel. How will you treat that offender when he is actually up close and personal. It’s easier to say I promise to love my neighbour against all odds when the neighbour is far from you (easier to love from a distance).
Until you’ve experienced something, you never really know how it feels. That’s why the saying “experience is the best teacher” is the most tangible proverb of all time.

You give a warning that clearly makes no sense to another then they experience it themselves and viola the ‘if the boot fits’ concept comes to play.
It’s easier to dole advice to someone until you find yourself having to take your advice and you start making excuses.

God/Jesus is right “Don’t judge” he said. Try wearing the shoes, they pinch don’t they? Most people have things at their beck and call so no matter what they will never feel your pain, or the ones that have had it rough and feel the only justice the world deserves is to take take take without a thought to the next person.

May our roads be smooth, how apt a prayer yet adequately incorrect. How would one learn on a smooth road? You’ll take everything for granted and won’t be thankful for the days when things go right after a rough patch.
An attitude of gratitude helps put things in perspective always.

Funny even Jesus talked of trials and tribulations. I pray my road is filled with minor obstacles to help me stay strong.

  1. I like the “It’s easier to dole advice to someone until you find yourself having to take your advice and you start making excuses.” aint we all guilty of this? lol.
And “May our roads be smooth, how apt a prayer yet adequately incorrect. How would one learn on a smooth road?….” Reason why we have to ask the Holy Spirit to teach us how to pray and that we dont pray amiss.

Lastly, “I pray my road is filled with MINOR obstacles to help me stay strong.” still dictating to God uhn? lol, why so scared? Remember God said “he wont let us be troubled beyond what we can handle” (paraphrased). Great piece! (Y)

    1. Lol. I knew that about the minor thing was coming. I know I will have obstacles either minor or major, I was just speaking into my life what I wanted it to be.
