Perfection is a good thing, you know what’s even better – Excellence. Excellence is God’s given way of doing things and always brings satisfaction along with it, and there’s understanding in it that allows for failure knowing you can always do things better next time, unlike perfection that brings a fake sense of satisfaction and has a negative vibe.
Daniel 1:17 NKJV
As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Reading the book of Daniel today was so much fun. Through out the book, it was evident that Daniel was a man of excellence and he always had favour wherever he went.
God is a person of excellence and at every point where Daniel solved a problem, even the idol worshipping King recognised that.
The two most interesting part of this Book:
¤ Nebuchadnezzar’s praise of God when he was humiliated and made to eat grass along with the beast of the field. It just showed in more ways than one God’s sovereignty
Daniel 4:34-35 NKJV
And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, “What have You done?”
A king so powerful understanding that another was more awesome than he.
¤ Darius fasted for Daniel for his protection, not like He knew his God, but he knew that something more powerful than he, was at work in Daniel’s life. When you are with God, even your enemy is at peace with you.
Daniel 6:18-20 NKJV
Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no musicians were brought before him. Also his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
Going through the Bible, three things were common with people God used for excellence;
★ Favour with God and man
